Check out this awesome video from our Playworks partner about how, together, we promote learning for underserved youth through guided outdoor play. During the pandemic, we have served 25 elementary and middle school children from low-income families in San Francisco’s South of Market district at our Catholic Charities Maureen & Craig Sullivan Youth Center. In the video, Erica Nave, M&CSYC Program Director talks about the importance of social-emotional learning after more than a year of social isolation.

“Playworks played a major part in giving our kids movement and socialization – one of the core skills children lost because of the pandemic,” Nave explains. Through activities that foster teamwork and leadership in a safe play environment, kids gained greater confidence in the virtual classroom, too.

The Playworks video was created through a generous gift from their partners at The Warriors Community Foundation and Salesforce.
