Homelessness Relief: One Client’s Story

by NPR Morning Edition – July 16, 2021

Catholic Charities client, Michele Griffin-Young, 73, moved into our Casa Buena hotel in February of this year. The Catholic Charities Casa Buena is an 18-unit motel in Corte Madera, a small suburb north of San Francisco. It is one of 94 Project Home key sites, a California program to convert hotels, motels, and other buildings into permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness.

In partnership with the State and San Francisco and Marin Counties, we have been running five shelter-in-place residences throughout the pandemic, providing resources, case management, and compassionate care in addition to a place to call home.
