Homelessness Prevention Program

Homelessness Prevention Program

Reducing Homelessness With Compassion

We strive to ensure vulnerable people have a home, either in the form of temporary shelter or long-term housing.

The goal of our Homelessness Prevention Program is to ensure vulnerable people have a home, either in the form of temporary shelter or long-term housing. The program provides eviction prevention support in the form of rental assistance for back rent, security deposits, and referral to appropriate community agencies.

Catholic Charities is a lead agency in the Family Eviction Prevention Collaborative (FEPCO) of San Francisco, which represents a cohesive community of service providers that streamline the rental assistance intake process for low-income, at-risk families and individuals in San Francisco. Through one-on-one meetings with a rental assistance specialist, clients may receive direct assistance and the referrals needed to remain stably housed.

What We Do

What We Do

At the forefront of systemic change, we couple expertise with real-time problem solving that prevents family homelessness. Families and individuals receive respectful, compassionate assistance that transforms lives and creates pivotal stability through an array of services including access to family residential care, financial subsidies for rent, specialized counseling, intensive case management, parenting, budgeting, and enrichment classes for single moms, and collaborative problem solving with those we serve. We tap into the resilience of our clients and help give them freedom to focus on restoring stability and hope in other areas of their lives.

Meet Andrea

Andrea was 16 when she had her son and faced the daunting challenge of raising a child on her own. It was not easy. She reached out to Catholic Charities and received help that enabled her and her son to remain housed and together. Andrea finished school and started a successful career helping others get back on their feet. She hopes she will inspire others to reach out when they need support. She certainly inspires us!
