In partnership with

This program serving the community is funded by the City of San Francisco's Department of Disability and Aging Services

Catholic Charities Adult Day Services offers non-medical personal care, supervision, and assistance for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities.

Catholic Charities Adult Day Services San Francisco is a licensed program providing a safe, supervised, therapeutic, and friendly environment for seniors and adults with disabilities who experience losses in physical function, memory, or social support.

Through mentally and physically stimulating activities, the program enhances participants’ quality of life and increases their independence while providing support and respite to family caregivers. Adult Day Services is a reliable and affordable alternative to in-home care or placement in a residential facility.

Co-located within our Adult Day Services San Francisco, our Catholic Charities Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center provides a safe, structured environment in which frail or chronically impaired seniors and disabled adults can safely participate in social, educational, and recreational activities. The program provides stability and consistency in the lives of participants and their families.

Our program is situated in a bright, spacious setting with multiple activity rooms and an enclosed courtyard in the back. With no more than 32 participants per day, we offer a range of fun and stimulating activities, the opportunity to make new friends, and an environment of warmth and respect created by our experienced staff.

We are conveniently located in the southern part of San Francisco with easy access to Highway 280 as well as Muni’s M-Line and 54-Line a half a block away. Ample free parking is available for visitors.

What Does It Mean To Serve With Love?

“According to St. Teresa of Avila, ‘It is love alone that gives worth to all things. Through the graces of God, I serve with love because it is the only gift worth giving.’”

Client Testimonial

“As we come up on the 20th year that our mother, Pauline, began attending the Catholic Charities adult day program, we wanted to take a few moments to let you know how much this program has meant to all of us.

This program supported our mom and our family through the dementia process, with steady, compassionate, and educated care. When she started this program twenty years ago, Mom enjoyed arts and crafts, displaying her pieces at home, as well as lunch, singing, word games, answering questions, bingo, baking cakes, learning about nutrition, parties, and musical entertainers. She loved learning songs, like “Tumbling Tumble Weeds,” and she sings that to this day. During Covid, the online program kept Mom connected to people and added interest to her day. She didn’t feel isolated and we enjoyed the weekly caregiver meetings.

Now, Mom is 98, mostly blind, wheelchair-bound, and her hands are riddled with arthritis. Day care is still the highlight of her week. She draws comfort from the routine of activities. Moreover, it is a rare and wondrous gift these days for Mom to enter a space where she feels that she belongs and where she can connect with others.

Over the years, as Mom’s physical and mental capabilities have declined, the team has managed to meet her where she is, and Mom returns home each day content and marveling over some new thing she has learned. She may not remember everything she did but she usually reports field trips, especially to the ocean, winning at bingo, and petting Ranger the dog.

The Adult Day program has provided respite to our family and added joy, companionship, and structure to our mom’s last years.  We could not be more grateful.”

“Our goal is to help them succeed in the wide range of activities they do, giving them a sense of accomplishment that buoys their confidence and well-being,” says Clement. “Together with their families, we help stabilize those that join us, giving them dignity and the opportunity for a long and healthy life after having a dementia diagnosis. “we want people to know that these services are out there, and that it’s not only okay to ask for support, but also necessary. It really does take a village to raise our children, but it also takes a village to care for our elderly.”
