FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO (June 9, 2016) –On behalf of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Francisco Board of Directors, Board Chairman Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced today that Jeff Bialik will retire from his position as executive director. Mr. Bialik will remain with the organization until June 30, 2017 to ensure a smooth and successful transition for his successor. The board of directors will launch an extensive and comprehensive search for a new executive director beginning this summer.
“Serving as executive director of Catholic Charities has been the most rewarding work of my lifetime,” said Mr. Bialik. “I am forever grateful to Archbishop Emeritus George H. Niederauer and Archbishop Cordileone for entrusting me with this opportunity.”
“Thanks to Jeff’s vision, skill and leadership, today Catholic Charities is financially stable, organizationally strong and able to quantify the positive impact our programs have had on people’s lives,” said Simon Manning, president of the Catholic Charities Board of Directors. “We are grateful for Jeff’s long-lasting contributions to Catholic Charities and wish him the very best as he and his wife embark on the next chapter of their lives together.”
In addition to improving financial stability, under Mr. Bialik’s leadership, Catholic Charities expanded programs and services, adding 10 new programs focusing on homelessness and housing, children and youth and refugees and immigrants; launched a new brand identity, logo and website; increased fundraising efforts and increased engagement with volunteers; greatly expanded community partnerships and relationships with Catholic parishes and the Bay Area Interfaith Community; and formalized Catholic Charities’ role in advocating for social justice. “Catholic Charities is successful today because of the hard work and commitment of our staff, volunteers, board, donors, community partners and clients,” said Bialik.
Mr. Bialik currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Catholic Charities USA, is a member of the Leadership Committee for MarinKids and is on the Founding Steering Council for Rise Together. He was previously employed by Dominican University of California and Golden Gate University.
