Catholic Charities opposes the Trump Administration’s decision to terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration policy. We see this action as a disregard for the well-being of families and children. We see it as yet another unnecessary action causing hate and division.
It is not Catholic, Christian, or of any faith to turn your back on His children. This action is a negligent disregard for the future of our country, the work of our founding fathers, and what we stand for as Americans. We call on every person of faith and compassion to make your voice heard and stand in solidarity with DREAMers and all who have been forced to live in the shadows.
We urge all DACA recipients to seek qualified, legal advice before taking any action. Catholic Charities’ attorneys and Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited Representatives are here to answer your questions and help you identify your options during this time of uncertainty. If you have questions, or would like to speak with a qualified legal representative, call us at 415 972 1200.
We will be hosting a presentation for DACA recipients and their families about the implications of the Administration’s decision to terminate the DACA program at our Refugee & Immigrant Services Office in San Mateo at 36 37th Ave on Monday, September 11 at 2 p.m. We are also working on an event this month in San Francisco as well. More details to come.
Catholic Charities has been in existence for 110 years; and we aren’t going anywhere. We will continue to use our collective voice to fight for those who need us most. We helped young people who are American in every way, except on paper, apply and receive DACA when the program was enacted. We will continue to be here to support them through this time of confusion, betrayal and fear. DREAMers and all immigrants deserve dignity, love and respect.
