A gift to Catholic Charities San Francisco will help kids like these have the opportunity to play.

What does it mean to be a CCCYO Athlete? For many of us – even adults – we remember the feeling well. Wins and losses, heartbreak and triumph. Of course, in the end, what’s on the scoreboard is far less important than the memories shared, the friendships made, and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

For our athletes, playing CCCYO sports allows students the opportunity to nurture important skills like teamwork and leadership, while also developing healthy fitness habits to last a lifetime.

We asked four players. Here’s what they said.

“I enjoy playing volleyball and I have been playing for 6 years and excited for this year. My favorite part about playing volleyball is playing with my friends and having fun.”

“I get to be a part of a whole community, and I get to have fun with my friends. I can’t wait for the soccer game that’s coming up!"

“I started playing volleyball when I was in 4th grade, so for 5 years. My favorite part is getting to play sports and have fun with my friends. I’m looking forward to winning games and getting better, improving my skills”

“I like playing sports and being competitive and I like being part of the sports community with my family and friends. I am looking forward to hopefully playing in the playoffs and working hard with my teammates.”
